Under the esteemed patronage of the European Parliament, the Erasmus+ project EduHive: Developing Civic Awareness and Virtues through Apipedagogy successfully gathered students in Italy for a remarkable educational exchange. This event marked the first in-person meeting of the students, fostering a warm and engaging atmosphere that laid the foundation for strong personal and academic connections.

At the IIS Leonardo da Vinci-Rippamonti secondary vocational school in Como, six first-year students of the preschool education program at the Celje – Center Gymnasium: Kaja Amon, Naja Gruber, Ema Kuralt, Neža Malovšek, Lara Pikl and Živa Žujić, together with Italian students: Ume Habiba, Benedetta Zanardelli, Nicolas Cairoli, Zeno Finzi, Tharusha Kahaduwa and Giole Cassina, are preparing and implementing workshops as part of the EduHive project. The project aims to develop and upgrade democratic values through apipedagogical workshops, which are based on the 10 values that humans share with bees, and to upgrade communication, connect, co-determine, and act in a way that reduces violence (both verbal and physical).

The 10 basic starting points - Bee Lessons, which are based on the life challenges of the bee world, were prepared by Nina Ilič, professional manager of apipedagogical programs. She provided invaluable insight as she evaluated the workshops, offering constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement. Notably, this event marked the first international use of Bee Lesson Cards, further enriching the student's learning experiences and expanding the global reach of Apipedagogy.

Beyond the structured activities, the meeting cultivated an environment of camaraderie and mutual respect among the participants. The students quickly built meaningful relationships, bridging cultural and linguistic differences through shared learning and collaboration. This spirit of unity and enthusiasm underscored the success of the event, leaving a lasting impression on all involved.

The EduHive project stands as a testament to the power of international educational initiatives, demonstrating how innovative pedagogical approaches can shape responsible and engaged citizens. With a promising meeting in Italy, the project sets the stage for further fruitful exchanges and the continued development of Apipedagogy as a transformative educational tool.

Professors Metka Krajnc Sevšek, Danijela Marolt, Tanja Bračun, Federica Curro, Salvatrice Crimi, Paola Peduzzi and Paola Eliana Longo and external coordinator Nina Ilič are very satisfied with the cooperation and implementation of activities, which are not easy in content, but are extremely relevant for students.
